Mustang

Mustang District, a part of Dhaulagiri Region is one of the seventy-five districts of Nepal. The district, with Jomsom as its headquarter, straddles the Himalayas and extends northward onto the Tibetan plateau. These whitewashed settlements, set amid fields of barley and home to impressive chortens and simple monasteries, reflect the abiding Buddhist culture. The landscape of Mustang is a barren moonscape of eroded sandstone pillars and discontinuous moraine terraces, which together present a colorful mosaic made up principally of earthen reds, yellows and brown.  This  district is famous for the springs and village of Muktinath (a popular Hindu and Buddhist pilgrimage site), apples.

 Jomsom

Jomsom also known as Dzongsam or New Fort, is a town located at an altitude of 2800m in Mustang District of Nepal. It extends over both the banks of the Kali Gandaki River. The soaring peaks of Dhaulagiri and Nilgiri form a backdrop. The views are very fascinating and adorable.

Upper Mustang is located north of Annapurna and at an average altitude of 4,000m is geologically and culturally part of the Tibetan plateau. The valleys are arid and dry with colourful rock formations containing many cave dwellings high up in the cliffs. The first trekking parties were allowed into Upper Mustang in 1992 and there are still very few people (about 700 trekkers each year) visiting Upper Mustang as a result it is one of the few places left where one can see undisturbed Tibetan culture.

Manang

Manang which lies close to the Nepal-Tibet border in the lap of gigantic himalayas, offers tremendous opportunities due to its rich natural flora and fauna. It is situated on the broad valley of the Marshyangdi River in the rain shadow to the north of annapurna mountain range. It is still one of the remotest and inaccessible valleys in Nepal. Mostly inhabited by Gurungs and Ghales eminently innocent and hard working people. Yak roam the valley sides surrounded by stunning 6000 to 8000m peaks (Pisang peak, the Chulu range, Gangapurna, Tilicho Peak, Kangaru Peak, Throng peak), and the area also contains high concentrations of endangered species such as snow leopard and blue sheep. Manang is well known for Tilicho Lake (highest lake of the world), Milarepa’s Cave, Himalayan range and spectacular natural beauty , monasteries as well as warm culture and rich hospitality of local people.
